Coaching
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
— Carl Jung
Why coaching?
Whether your goals are professional, creative, personal, or spiritual, those who reach the highest levels have one thing in common. They’re coached or mentored.
The reality of our human biology is that we didn’t evolve to live in such a disconnected world. Disconnected from each other, ourselves, and the rhythm of life that flows through our planet. This malnourishment causes emotional distress and triggers our brain’s emergency back-up systems that focus on problems instead of possibilities, comfort over growth, and create destructive patterns that feel good in the moment but ultimately make our lives worse.
Luckily, within you has always been an inner healing intelligence. Think of it as your highest self. This inner presence has an incredible capacity to learn, grow, and heal, and together we will help you release its potential.
My approach combines contemporary Western modalities, Eastern mindfulness practices, and indigenous wisdom from around the world. My approach is also humanistic and relational. That means I believe helping you access your true self will help you lead your most fulfilling life. I also strive to create a collaborative, supportive relationship based on respect and compassion for you.
My fee is $225 for a 50-minute session.
Our coaching principles
No principle is more important than the coaching relationship. I bring an attitude of curiosity and respect and tailor our work to what’s most helpful to you. Although every coaching relationship is unique, some key principles guide my philosophy.
Mind/Body Connection.
Common Western thinking separates the mind and the body, assuming that the mind processes thought and the body processes energy. However, a growing body of research in neuroscience supports the notion that no aspect of our experience is purely mental or purely physical (Weiss et al, 2015). I’m trained in the Hakomi Method, a mind/body approach that helps you deepen your inner work beyond insights and words into direct experience.
Intuition & Imagination.
Have you ever had an “aha!” moment, where inspiration seemed to come from nowhere? It actually came from you - a part of you outside your conscious awareness in the right hemisphere of your brain. This part of you learns and creates at incredible speeds if you step out of its way and give it what it needs to shine. As your coach, we can incorporate intuition, imagination, and other right-brain processes to help you tap into your own treasure trove.
Mindfulness.
Before neuroscience could study the brain from the outside, humanity accumulated centuries of wisdom by studying consciousness directly. This is the practice of mindfulness. As your coach, we will strengthen your mindfulness muscles and help you shape your experience from the inside.
Queer-affirming, anti-racist, and sex-positive.
I recognize the intersecting forms of oppression that impact the experiences of LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, polyamorous, and kinky people. I’m committed to dismantling my blind spots and biases while also taking action in the world to promote social justice.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) or “Parts” Work.
Have you ever felt like part of you wanted something, but another part of you didn’t? That’s because our mind is made up of different sub-personalities or “parts,” each with its own viewpoint and job to perform (similar to the Pixar movie, Inside Out). Like members of a family, a person’s inner parts can be in conflict or even take on extreme roles. The IFS method can help you explore your inner parts in a compassionate way that will help them let go of their extreme rolls and reduce inner conflict.
Inner healing intelligence.
I believe you contain an innate inner wisdom that naturally guides you towards becoming your highest self. Unfortunately, many of us are disconnected from this inner healing intelligence. Our work will reorient you towards your inner healing intelligence and help you unlock its incredible capacity to learn, grow, and heal.
